Visitors to the LIGNA in Hanover (18-22 May 2009) will have the chance to experience several highlights at the booth of Austria's special machines manufacturer Wintersteiger (Hall 12 - Stand E46). The global market leader in thin-cutting technology will showcase its new thin-cutting band saw DSB Singlehead, an automated DSB Twinhead system, the 6-lamella concept for maximum wood yield and saws from its own development and production.
With the new thin-cutting band saw "DSB Singlehead", Wintersteiger has achieved the perfect solution for unlimited applications in high-quality thin-cutting. Numerous features make all the difference. Revolutionary block transport, for example, which is designed for all block conditions. Or the unique selection of innovative bandsaw guides. This is how the DSB Singlehead guarantees maximum profitability and unites absolute precision with superior performance in the production of high-quality lamellas for parquet flooring, multi-layer boards, doors, windows, musical instruments, furniture, wet lumber resawing, gluelam, pencil boards, ski/snowboard components and non-timber products such as composite, polystyrene, cartonboard, cork, expanded materials, carbon, graphite, plastics, light metals and many more.
The specialist audience will be presented with a further highlight in the "DSB Twinhead" thin-cutting band saw. With feed speeds of up to 60 m/min, it achieves an output of up to 12,000 m2 in single-shift operation, where kerfs starting from 1 mm are possible. The system allows for rapid adjustment of block dimensions and lamella thickness. A high level of flexibility is also achieved by the modular Twinhead arrangement of 2 to 6 saws and by easy integration into automated production systems. Wintersteiger is presenting the "DSB Twinhead" at the LIGNA with automatic feeding, linear lamella separation and de-dusting unit.
6-Lamella Concept Saves 20% Wood!
At the LIGNA, in addition to the complete range of thin-cutting frame saw machines and saw blades, Wintersteiger will also be exhibiting a "DSG Sonic" thin-cutting frame saw with new thin-cutting saw blades from its own development and production. With this machine it is possible to achieve kerfs with a cut size of just 0.7 mm. As a result it is possible to saw 6 instead of 5 lamellas from conventional saw blocks. By switching to the 6-lamella concept, a parquet manufacturer could make a potential saving of 62 Eurocent/m² of top layer.
